Celebrating Local Champions of “Service Above Self”
Celebrating Local Champions of “Service Above Self”
Since 2007, the Rotary Club of Southside Corpus Christi has proudly honored individuals who go above and beyond in service to our community through its signature fundraiser: Hometown Hero. Founded by Past President Marilyn Spencer, this event recognizes outstanding citizens who embody Rotary’s core value—Service Above Self.
Proceeds from Hometown Hero support impactful community initiatives, including:
- Wheelchair Ramp Projects
- RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards)
- Student Achiever Recognitions
- College Scholarships
- The Four-Way Test Speech Contest for High School Students
Each year, club members nominate individuals who have made a lasting impact. The Board reviews the nominations and selects one exceptional honoree to receive the title of Hometown Hero.
