President's Address on Installation Night
A few words from Southside Corpus Christi Rotary Club new President, Suzanne Guggenheim, to end a fun "Demotion Party".

What a fantastic Evening!
I need first to thank Erasmo for having so graciously accepted to lend himself to a different kind of "Installation Ceremony", and tell him how proud I am to share the day with him. I am not sure we should have let you go! These are going to be large shoes to fill…
Many Thanks also to our new President -Elect John Owen who, behind the curtains, organized this whole evening! What a way to start the year!
I also want to thank our now Past Immediate Past President, and Area 5 assistant District Governor, Debbie High for having accepted to do our Rotary Club’s new Board Installation. I know you’re not counting any more, but if I’m not mistaken, this is the fourth Installation you are either doing or at least attending, with one more to go before the week is over. Debbie, And thank you for always having my back!
Thank you to all of our Board Members and Committee Chairs for answering the call!
Thank you to our Prosecutor of the day, District Governor Nominee Betty Frantum! You’d think she’s done that all her life!
And thank you to all the incoming Board Members and Directors for answering the call! With your help, this is going to be a great year.
Thank you to Rick Bell our Area 5 ADG for being here and representing our incoming District Governor Maxie Houser who is currently in Lisbon, attending the Rotary International Convention!
Thank you to John Seaman and the Corpus Christi Jazz ensemble for making this fun evening, a delightful one too!
Finally, I want to thank my husband Alan, and my daughter, Valerie. Without your support, I certainly couldn’t do this!
So, as we start a new year, I look forward to working with our 51 committed, passionate members who share a dedication to the ideal of “Service Above Self”.
The Rotary Club of Southside Corpus Christi has been serving the needs of our community and joining forces with 1.2M other Rotarians, around the globe since 1955.
It is an honor to serve as President of this incredible organization for the 2013-2014 Rotary year. I am humbled and proud, to work with you to better our Community, and through Rotary International to contribute to support education and job training, provide clean water, combat hunger, improve health and sanitation and most impressively to continue our awe-inspiring work to eradicate Polio.
“Engage Rotary – Change Lives” is the new Year’s Theme from Rotary International President, Ron Burton.
What an engaging and meaningful statement.
As a Rotarian you are part of an organization that can and does Change Lives, and Change the World.
The strong fellowship among the members of the Rotary Club of Southside Corpus Christi and Rotarians around the world is remarkable. Our weekly meetings are meaningful, inspirational and, most of all, we don’t forget our fifth Test, FUN. The projects and events our club maintains are diverse and many. There is something for everyone.
Our Board, today, at our first meeting, adopted as our Club’s Theme for 2013-2014, a combination of both approaches to what we do:
“Having Fun While Changing Lives”.
We will continue to honor the strong and unwavering traditions that are the life blood of every Rotarian. We are an organization of Business, Professional, and Community leaders that provides humanitarian services and encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and we know how to have FUN while doing it.
Here’s to an exhilarating and successful year of Fun, Fellowship and Service!
