Out-going President, John Owens summarized
Southside Rotary Club's Accomplishments for
2014 - 2015, as follows:
 
 Southside was involved in numerous projects this past year including:
  •  Began an Early Act First Knight program with Rose Shaw Elementary School
  • Raised funds for Christmas toys for Rose Shaw students in need
  • Initiated an Interact Club at St. John Paul II high School
  • Recognized students of the month from St. John Paul II
  • Supported the Rotaract Club at TAMUCC
  • Purchased stoles and cords for graduating Rotaract members
  • Supported the building of a dialysis center in India
  • Held a Polio Awareness dinner
  • Held a 4-way speech contest
  • Sponsored students to attend RYLA
  • Sponsored TAMUCC student to attend 2 weeks in Costa Rica
  • Helped to pay for a 4th scholarship for a student to attend Costa Rica
  • Participated in the Adoption Awareness Picnic
  • Participated in the Early Bird reader Community Book Drive
  • Rang the bell for Salvation Army
  • Supported Boy Scouts by putting out flags on appropriate holidays
  • And of course our signature project, building wheelchair ramps for individuals
 In addition to our projects, our club:
  • Participated in numerous district activities
  • Put on a very successful Administrative professional Day Celebration
  • Held a number of social events throughout the year
  • Gave almost $12,000 to foundation
  • Membership will be up about 10%, and 
  • Had fantastic weekly programs
 Finally, we lost some of our friends during this past year.  Former Southside
 Rotarians Ben Wagner and Leslie Robertson, and Southside Rotarian Pete
 Jones all passed away this past yar.  We will miss them. 
 
 All in all, we all need to be proud of what our club does because we truly are
 are motivated by "Service Above Self".
