Inaugural Service Above Self Awards Dinner
On January 21, 2016, the Rotary Club of Southside Corpus Christi hosted a celebration for 6 Nueces County community members who epitomize Rotary's motto of Service Above Self through their contributions at work and in our community. For the Service Above Self Award, we solicited nominations from the community throughout December and early January, and selected a deserving individual in each of five categories. Recipients were presented with a plaque from our club and a Congressional Certificate from the office of United States Congressman Blake Farenthold. Congratulations to the following recipients:
Jim Albert, Albert Construction Co. (Civic Engagement)
Amy L. Enrriques, Robstown Independent School District (Education)
Eduardo Gomez, Driscoll Children's Hospital (Health)
Lt. Millie Gomez, Nueces County Sheriff's Office (Public Safety)
Celina Ybarbo Pulcher, City of Corpus Christi Solid Waste Dept. (Utilities)
Our selection committee awarded the Service Above Self Hometown Hero Award and Rotary International's distinguished Paul Harris Fellow Award to an individual who has served the Corpus Christi community, both privately and publicly, for over 20 years. Congratulations to our Hometown Hero:
