Hand to Honduras update: Tom Plumb is currently serving in Honduras and has been there since October 31st. He is currently recruiting volunteers for February 12-21 and February 21-March 1. There is still a need for financial support to finish the San Martin water project serving 6000 people. Three tanks have been completed, and now they are building the control room to house the filter modules. Louis Boldt presented Rotarians with more information about Early Act First Knight (EAFK), and Rotary International program for elementary and middle school students. Mr. Boldt shared success stories of the EAFK program in the Victoria schools, which was implemented 3 years ago and is sponsored by Victoria's three Rotary Clubs. The purpose of EAFK is to teach students service about self, educate them about the virtues, and recite the 4-Way Test each day. Schools that spend 10 mintues a day using the EAFK program as part of their character building curriculum have seen a significant drop in disciplinary problems, an increased involvement of students in service projects, and enthusiastic support from family members. For more information about Early Act First Knight, please contact Bridget Markwood, our EAFK Chair, and visit: www.eafk.org.

Early Saturday morning, on November 9 2013,before the sun would even rise, you could find the "usual culprits", Rod Vaugn and Debbie and Joe High, setting up the Flags around the lake at County Club Town Homes, while waiting for the rest of the Rotary Crew and the Boy Scouts from Troop 232.
We wrapped it up in less that an hour. 100 Flags later, What a sight to behold!!
Join us next time!

On Veterans Day weekend, the Southside Corpus Christi Rotary Club’s "RAMP Champs" built a wheelchair ramp at a home on Birch Street in Corpus Christi as part of Southside's ongoing community service Wheelchair Ramp Project.
This project was completed with members of the Southside Corpus Christi Rotary Club, and one member of the Rotary Club of Kingsville.
The recipient of the ramp had tears in her eyes and hugs for her new Rotarian friends who were able to improve her quality of life by providing her with safe access to her home so she will be able to reclaim her independence. The recipient immediately used her wheeled walker to walk down to her driveway and enthusiastically said, “I’m free.”
Our club has been building ramps for over thirteen years and builds about six to eight ramps per year for those in need.
