This Beautiful logo was drawn for us by Joe McInnis.
Joe was a member of Southside Rotary many years ago.
He was in a wheelchair and had almost no use of his arms or hands.
He drew the boat with his mouth and teeth.

The CD and full-length print version of the Official Directory will no longer be available starting for the 2016-17 Rotary year. A full-length PDF version will be made available and is only accessible with a My Rotary account. The front portion of the directory will be printed in a smaller, spiral bound edition. This version may be purchased for US$10 by contacting our Rotary staff or calling 847-866-4600.

Whenever I arrive in a new country, one of the first places I go is a bookstore. I do this for several reasons. Having spent much of my life and income in them, I always find them to be comforting spaces. And they often stock more specific maps and guides than you can get outside the country. But the real reason I love these places is that by scanning the titles for sale – just gazing down the spines – I can get a glimpse of how people in that country see themselves. What stories do they tell? What stories do they read? What books do they print? And what do they import from abroad? And though...

Rotary members, their families and friends can support Rotary’s work by bidding on antiques, artwork, jewelry, and collectibles through eBay Live Auctions events. Each month, Rotary will promote on its social media outlets a set of upcoming Live Auctions events, and eBay, the world’s largest auction website, will donate a portion of all sale proceeds from those events to Rotary. Live Auctions events enable buyers to participate in auctions across the United States -- held at such auction houses as Sotheby’s, Swann, and Freeman’s -- without leaving home. Under this proceeds-sharing...

In his address to convention attendees on Tuesday, 31 May, Trustee Chair Ray Klinginsmith proclaimed that The Rotary Foundation has never been stronger than it is today. Bolstered by generous contributions from members and robust programs like PolioPlus and the Rotary Peace Centers, the Foundation's good work is drawing public notice, Klinginsmith said: CNBC, a leading consumer and business news outlet in the U.S., ranked Rotary No. 5 among the top 10 charities changing the world in 2015. "Isn't it clear that our Foundation is truly better than ever before?" said Klinginsmith, who reported...

[Rotary Club Invocation:

Thank you for agreeing to say the invocation for our Rotary Meeting.  The Rotary Club of
Southside Corpus Christi includes persons of many different religions, beliefs and ideals,
and we aim to respect the  religious beliefs of others, while remaining faithful to our own.

religious diversities and avoid references pertinent only to a particular set of religious  beliefs.

Meeting Program

Meeting Program:

(Pictured below: City Council Member, Colleen McIntyre)

Colleen McIntyre, City Council Member, District 4, was the special guest of the day.

McIntyre started her presentation by recognizing the effect the Rotary club has had in her
life.  She stated that even though she has never been a Rotary club member, "Rotary is why
I am where I am today...."  She went on to describe how she was a recipient of the Rotary Club
scholarship, and how that scholarship paid for her first semester in college.

Colleen McIntyre's presentation was focused on street and water.  She talked to the South-
side Corpus Christi Rotary about the City's effort to improve the streets by ordinance.  She
also spoke about an increase in the budget for streets from $10 million to $20 million.  "This
budget will help improve the quality of the streets, and provide for maintenance," she said.

McIntyre also talked about the recent 13-day water boil restrictions, imposed on the City of
Corpus Christi, by the State government.  She defended the City of Corpus Christi, stating
that while the water quality met the EPA standards, they did not meet the State standards.
She acknowledged that local businesses suffered tremendously.  In concluding, she said that
the City was doing everything to ensure that Corpus Christi has safe drinking water, and to
ensure that the City never has to go through that experience again.
