Introduced by PP Suzanne Guggenheim, the week's
speaker was Mr. Andy Taubman, the City's Ad Hoc
Infrastructure Committee Chair.
Andy Tauban, who relocated to Corpus Christi from California
said that, "...The residential streets are a $900,000,000
problem" (he added that this was not an accurate estimate).
Tauban said that the everyday person does not know how much
it cost to fix the streets because no one was asking.
He stated that the street committee needed to be
able to communicate, and to be held accountable for the cost and the quality of the streets.

Tauban recognized that there are problems in the
system. Such problems, he said, the city should not
be ashamed to share. Doing so will let residents know
whether the problems can be fixed or not; and should
help in building trust between the residents, who
indirectly fund the street projects. He said that trust is
lacking between the residents and the government
because it hasn't been earned or delivered.
In closing his presentation, Tauban emphasized the
need for residents to hold the street committee
accountable for the cost of the streets saying, "If you
demand accountability, then it will be delivered;
if you don't demand accountability, it won't be delivered."
For his presentation, Andy Taubman received a Tacks Shelter, from President Michelle
Maresh-Fuehrer on behalf of the club. When asked to identify his gift, Tauban joked, "It
looks to me like a street plan".
