PROGRAM: GULF COAST GROWTH VENTURES
ExxonMobil* and SABIC are proposing to build a multi-billion dollar plastics manufacturing facility in San Patricio County, Texas. The project, Gulf Coast Growth Ventures, is a unique opportunity created by the abundance of low cost U.S. natural gas. ExxonMobil and SABIC bring unmatched expertise to this project, having worked together in petrochemical ventures for more than 35 years.
Producing beneficial, everyday products
Ethylene from an ethane steam cracker would feed three derivative units. One unit would produce monoethylene glycol, which is used in latex paints, automotive coolants and anti-freeze, or as a building block to create various forms of plastics. Additionally, two polyethylene units would provide polyethylene for use in film, packaging, bottles and containers, and various sized pipes. Learn more about the project.

This year’s keynote speaker is Representative Todd A. Hunter, currently in his ninth term representing Texas State House District 32. He serves as the Chairman of the Calendars Committee, Vice Chairman of Criminal Jurisprudence and a member of the County Affairs Committee. He served in the house from 1989-1997, then again starting in 2008 to the present. Hunter has practiced law since 1978 and is currently a partner of The Law Office of Todd A. Hunter in Corpus Christi. Todd and his wife, Alexis Taylor Hunter, have three children: Todd Jr., Michael, and Christina.

1) Registration is now open for our 12th Annual Administrative Professionals Day Luncheon on Wednesday April 25, 2018 at noon at the Corpus Christi Country Club. See attached flyer. 3) Our fearless program chair David Walker is looking for some great Rotarians to help fill in our program dates in the summer. Interesting programs boost attendance and attract new members!
4) President-Elect Christine Eudeani is collecting items for the Women's Shelter through the month of February. Executive Secretary Erasmo Nava sent out an email with the list of items needed.
PDG Debbie High and ADG Nancy Ross presented Southside Rotary President Scott Sutherland with the following District 5930 and Zone 21b recognitions at our meeting on Wednesday February 7, 2018. These honors were earned under Debbie's District 5930 leadership in 2016-2017. Great work everyone!
Ignite Premier Club (4 of 4 years) for membership growth recognition. Our District went from last to first!
Polio Plus funds raised by our club equaled $14,021.89. These funds were matched by Rotary International's Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation resulting in providing over 42,000 polio vaccines to those in need.
Our club's Rotary Foundation Annual Fund contribution was $13,290, $260.59 per capita (third in district).
